With a hammock chair, every day feels like a vacation.

We recommend that you choose a quiet corner where you can focus on relaxing and are not distracted by loud noises or other people around.

In the following, we give you a brief overview of the most popular places for your hammock chair and tell you what you should pay special attention to in each location.

Hanging your Hammock chair outdoors without a stand

The garden is without question one of the best places to take a rest after a busy day and enjoy a cozy summer evening. You can choose whether you prefer to "hang out" on the lawn or on the terrace.

Before you decide on a place to setup your hammock chair, we recommend considering whether you prefer to relax in a sunnier or shadier spot. As the seasons change, so will the amount of sun and shade your relaxation location will get.

Load-bearing branches, beams, poles, or even a swing set are suitable for hanging your hammock chair. Regardless of where or what you choose to hang your hammock chair from, you should always make sure of its load-bearing capacity and consult a qualified specialist if you are unsure.

Hanging your hammock chair without a stand on the balcony

Although a hammock chair takes up little space, before installing it on your balcony we suggest making sure that you have enough space (see recommended minimum distance and height). We recommend setting up any other balcony furniture before installing to ensure there is enough space for your preferred hammock chair size.

Generally, balcony ceilings or supporting beams are suitable for installing your hanging chair from. Please keep in mind if you rent or have an upstairs neighbor, you may need to ask the owner or landlord of your apartment or the apartment above for permission before drilling into the ceiling or beams.

Indoor hammock chairs

Hanging a hammock chair indoors brings South American style and hours of relaxation into your home regardless of the weather outside.

Depending on whether you prefer to use your hammock chair for relaxing alone, hanging with your loved ones, or are upgrading your home office, your hammock chair can be installed anywhere in your home with enough space.

When selecting an indoor location for your hammock chair, it is important that you have a stable beam or a load-bearing ceiling made of solid masonry or drywall with a wooden substructure (studs). If you are renting, we recommend checking with your landlord before breaking out the drill.

2 | How much space does a hammock chair need?

How much space you need to install your hammock chair depends on its size and how you plan to hang it. Keep scrolling for helpful information to determine the minimum space required for your hammock chair.

Calculating space for hammock chairs

There are two main factors in calculating the space required for a hammock chair:

First, there must be sufficient distance between the hammock chair and its surroundings. For a Basic size hammock chair, the recommended minimum distance between the axis of rotation and walls, furniture and other objects is 65 cm, for the Comfort size it is 75 cm and for the Kingsize size it is 90 cm.

To make sure that there is enough distance, it is best to hold the hammock chair in the desired position before installing to check whether it can be turned in all directions without any problems.

Also relevant is the ceiling height or the height of the beam to which you want to attach the hammock chair. Depending on the size of the hammock chair, the following minimum heights apply:

Hammock Chair Size Minimum Height
Basic 200 cm
Comfort 210 cm
Kingsize 220 cm

3 | Suspension for hammock chairs

Now that you know how much space you need for your hanging chair and have a load-bearing relaxation location, it's time for installation.

Suspending your hammock chair from the ceiling

For hanging your hammock chair from the ceiling, we recommend the LA SIESTA CasaMount suspension set for hammock chairs. If your ceiling is solid masonry or drywall, the MultiSpot hook connects to the ceiling with four screws for optimal weight distribution.

The CasaMount suspension set set consists of:
• 1x MultiSpot ceiling hook
• 4x Screws and dowels
• 1x Suspension rope
• 1x SmartHook hook
• 1x Manual and paper template

To quickly install your CasaMount, you can simply follow these steps:

  • Use the included template to mark 4 drill holes on the ceiling or wall. This will mark where your MultiSpot goes.

  • Drill the holes at the marked drill hole locations using an 8 mm drill bit.

  • If you are attaching the Multispot to a ceiling made of solid masonry, insert the included dowels (anchors) in the drilled holes. These should be flush with the ceiling surface. If you have drywall or wooden beams, this step is not necessary. If attaching to drywall be sure to find the stud to attach your MultiSpot.

  • Attach the MultiSpot to the ceiling or beam using the 4 provided screws. Be sure your MultiSpot does not pull away from the ceiling and is securely fastened.

  • Form the end of the suspension rope into a loop, pass the unknotted portion of the rope through the SmartHook, and knot another loop at the other end of the rope.

  • Now hook the first knotted loop into the MultiSpot.

  • Feed the second loop through the metal swivel on the hanging chair and hook it into the SmartHook.

  • This allows the hanging height of the hanging chair to be adjusted effortlessly by sliding the SmartHook up or down. We recommend 12“/30 cm distance between the floor and your hammock chair.
